Responsible business contributes to competitiveness

Initiatives related to sustainable development strengthen the competitiveness of the B&B TOOLS Group. Work in this area focuses on three main areas – environment, ethics and social accountability – and is highly decentralised.

Sustainable development within B&B TOOLS involves accountability for the impact on society – including social, economic and environmental issues – associated with the Group’s operations. As part of conducting a responsible business, B&B TOOLS welcomes a dialogue with the various stakeholders that are affected by the operations – employees, customers, suppliers, business partners, authorities and industry and trade associations. Regardless of the interest group concerned, the Group contributes to an open, objective and clear dialogue concerning its business operations. When it comes to the employees, social responsibility focuses on the areas of health and work environment, diversity, personal responsibility and competence development.

Part of the daily operations

Group-wide policies stipulate the principles and attitudes on which all operations within B&B TOOLS are to be based, including the area of the environment and social accountability. The content of these policies is updated and determined once a year by the Board of Directors of the Parent Company. Based on these overall policies, regional and local units then develop their own adapted goals and strategies. Using quality and environmental management systems, these strategies are often integrated into the daily operations. A tangible example is TOOLS’ common quality and environmental management system, through which the units are certified in accordance with ISO 9001 and 14001. Among the Product Companies, all units are environmentally and quality-certified since 2007.
